NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

About Naturopathy at Unify Health

Naturopathic medicine is a regulated health profession in Ontario, governed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat patients using an evidence-informed approach that includes both modern scientific knowledge and natural treatment options.

At Unify Health, our naturopathic services are part of our collaborative, multidisciplinary care model. This team-based approach supports communication between providers and ensures that care plans are tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences, and medical context.

Scope of Naturopathic Practice

Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario are trained in and may provide:

  • Health history review and physical examination

  • Ordering and interpreting certain laboratory tests

  • Dietary and lifestyle recommendations

  • Botanical (herbal) medicine

  • Nutritional supplementation

  • Acupuncture (where appropriate)

  • Patient education on health promotion and disease prevention

Naturopathic treatments may be used on their own or in conjunction with conventional medical care, depending on the patient’s condition and goals. Where appropriate, patients may be referred to or co-managed with medical doctors or other health professionals within Unify Health or in the community.

Conditions Addressed

Naturopathic Doctors may support patients with a range of health concerns, including:

  • Digestive symptoms

  • Hormonal changes and menstrual health

  • Sleep and stress-related concerns

  • Fatigue and general wellness

  • Joint and muscle discomfort

  • Cardiovascular and metabolic health support

Treatment plans are individualized, and recommendations are based on clinical assessment, patient goals, and current evidence. Naturopathic care is not a substitute for emergency medical attention or urgent care.
