Why We at Unify Can No Longer Offer Vasectomy Services

At this time, Unify Health no longer performs vasectomy procedures.

The decision is hard for our clinic and surgeons as we have provided hundreds of vasectomies safely and comfortably; the decision is based on the current reimbursement model under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). U

Unfortunately, the funding allocated for vasectomy procedures is significantly below the actual cost of providing safe, high-quality care. This includes the physician’s time and expertise, as well as the surgical staff, facility use, sterilized instruments, titanium surgical clips, local anesthesia, dressings, and follow-up care. Given that the total reimbursement is less than what many clinics spend on basic supplies alone, it is not economically viable for us to continue offering this service. We remain committed to delivering evidence-based care in areas where appropriate resources and support are available.
